The recycle bin
Deleting is reversible: items move to a recycle bin and stay restorable for 30 days before being permanently removed.
How deletion works#
Deleting an item — from its page, the content browser’s menu, or a bulk selection — moves it to the Recycle bin, pinned at the bottom of the content browser’s folder sidebar. Trashed items vanish from every list, search and app immediately, but nothing is destroyed yet.
Inside the bin#
- Each item shows when it was deleted and a “N days left” chip — red as the 30-day purge approaches.
- Restore puts the item back exactly where it was.
- Delete forever purges a single item immediately; Empty bin purges everything. Both ask for confirmation.
What purging destroys#
Purging is the real deletion. For datasets it drops the feature layers and their underlying data tables, and removes the layer from any maps that used it — this cannot be undone. Until purge, a map that already embeds a trashed layer keeps rendering it; that’s deliberate, so restoring within the 30 days brings everything back seamlessly.
After 30 days in the bin, items are purged automatically. If something must go now — say, for data-hygiene reasons — use Delete forever rather than waiting out the clock.
